Exhibition Design Japan Foundation The Superlative Artistry of Japan (May – June 2023)
The Superlative Artistry of Japan at JICC was a traveling exhibition that highlighted exceptional craftsmanship and creative excellence found in Japanese culture. Centered on the concept of monozukuri—the Japanese philosophy of dedication to the making of things—the exhibition showcases over 30 works that demonstrate highly refined techniques, inventive expression, and a pursuit of perfection in production.
Spanning from craft works of the Meiji era (1868–1912) to contemporary pieces, the exhibition brings together a diverse range of objects, including traditional crafts, contemporary art, hyper-realistic food samples, and shokugan (miniature toys packaged with candy).
